Introduction

Hi, not sure whether this group is for me, but I just quit my job to start my own crowdsourcing company and currently programming the interface, in Django. I'm a computational linguist but have always programmed, in many languages over the years.

What are you looking to get out of the group? Were there any events that particularly caught your eye?

Saw the REST event which would be relevant but noticed it didn't mention Python. Also, how much knowledge of REST does it already assume? Would hope to learn something from the group, and meet other people who are developing/have startups.

Do you ski or snowboard? or would you like to learn to ski or snowboard? ;-p

Hm, yes, would like to learn to snowboard but not sure something like snowcode is compatible with my family...

Please enter "yes" in this textbox to indicate that you acknowledge that recruitment agents are not allowed to join this meetup group. (Apologies to everyone else that we need to have this check here.)

Any suggestions, or feedback, or mistakes, or weird stuff on the website? (I will get your feedback within minutes)

  • Hi Sabine - interesting idea, presume you have looked at stuff like Amazon's Mechanical Turk? Also at a task level, I have used stuff like peopleperhour successfully. Happy to discuss more if useful.

  • have you also checked out : http://campug.org.uk/ ? (Cambridge Python user group) Would love to get their suggestions of potential python speakers who we could invite to the event.

  • Hi Sabine, while I don't have confirmed speakers yet for "Cambridge does REST" it's a priority of mine to ensure that we have many language agnostic sessions to encourage cross language participation, which I hope will help build and grow the Cambridge development community as a whole. (polyglot is the future! Getting developers 2 talk 2 other lang devs is critical)
