For software developers who care about their craft and enjoy expanding their horizons. Learning through doing, learning through chatting; good company and great fun. Generally with a Javascript, C#, NodeJS, Java, Ruby (and more recently Erlang, F#) slant, but not exclusively so and many of our events are language agnostic and deal with challenges and best practices surrounding software development for business as well as for fun. (We're looking for more Ruby and Python developers to please join us and help with sessions.) ..oh, and "functional" languages are quite "en-vogue" atom.
We generally organise events as people have ideas, or as sponsors and guest speakers are available, rather than having a regular schedule. Hack days are popular: getting together to learn about a technology through hands-on coding. Check out the past events if you want to know what else we've done. If you have other ideas for things that might be fun, feel free to post them.
Camdug is also the home of "snowcode": An annual free coding unconference held at a a great ski resort. This year's theme is "Node.js unconference" ... a week of awesome ski-boarding and learning. Booking for snowcode opens around 1st of February 2012!
What if you're looking for designers and/or developers and want to join CAMDUG to tap into the Cambridge talent pool?
If you're not a developer or designer or techie startup entrpreneur, then you can only join the group and attend socials by requesting to become a sponsor, which requires paying for beer and pizza at any of the socials that you attend. Becoming a sponsor is subject to approval by the management team and is a strict rule that ensures that the group members interests, privacy and fun are protected and that business interests are transparent.
If you are a recruitment agent, or work for a rectruitment agency, or have an interest in a recruitment agency then you cannot join as a member, and can only become a sponsor for an event.
See you soon :)
